My Lockdown Story

Always being an individual who has thrived when in solitude, the lockdown wasn’t actually much of a burden for me, at my level. However, the restrictions imposed on my personal freedom was quite a bit of wreckage to my personal goals. With some of my pre-decided goals gone down the drain, by the uncertain lockdown, my keep moving attitude did suffer a slowdown. Not that they couldn’t be picked along again, as i make through my way. And of course, I am quite aware of the hypocritic society i reside in and its flaws. For them, it was the most animated period, as the lockdown initiated, and by today’s time, all hypocrisy seems to have vanished. I too was overwhelmed at initial response, but I am not someone who has to be constantly reminded, but one that takes the Initiative to think for myself.

I research the necessary inputs, reach an interpretation, and develop my own conclusions. The first month of lockdown I was extremely cautious as I have a younger brother who is asthmatic. according to the government he qualified as vulnerable to covid-19. I also decided to keep my involvement with the outside world to a minimal to avoid any harm, especially to my brother as I would be in contact with him on a daily basis. However, after doing some extensive exploration on the novel covid-19 alongside engaging with credible doctors. I came to the conclusion that i had nothing to stay feared and went back to living as I always did. Which comprised of living my days as if they were my last and fluttering with pure joy-filled in my heart.

One of the core realisations during the lockdown that I discovered was the lack of education in public. I found a major bulk of people relied upon the media for their answers. This was incredibly sad. What had happened to your reasoning calibre? What happened to your curiosity, to asking questions? It was as though people were being spoon-fed like toddlers and they just swallowed every gulp whatever it be, blindly trusting that they won’t be allergic to any of the ingredients. Which is unbelievably questionable.

At the end of the day, as controversially bold it might sound, we don’t for surety know, these Individuals that reflect us the news. However, we’re supposed to trust the information to be ethical, non-biased and ultimately reliable. But it isn’t always the case, is it? Knowledge is power, and when you’re educated, the will of control by someone can’t be placed upon you. Because you know better. I have many factors for saying this but I would rather prefer to use my time studying at university to serve as a specimen for you ge be inspired. During my study days, it used to be a constant reminder from my teachers to thoroughly refer, and backup my statement with supportive facts. Overall conducting research on a certain topic, requires delicacy and preciseness.

This has always guided me not to accept completely what someone asserts, no matter who that Is. I realised that quite a lot of us dwell far away, detached from our roots. Our origin as individuals. I’ve concluded my reliability upon the government given how detrimental this has been, on a global scale, not just the country. I currently reside in London, UK. There was a lot of fear of uncertainty in the air and still as of now exists. I’ve myself experienced this fear closely. But will not allow fear to repress me as when it’s my time to pass i will allow such moment gracefully.
