AI and Poetry
At Poem Stellium, we understand that some poets and writers may choose to use AI tools as part of their creative process. We neither promote nor discourage this — it is a personal choice.
What matters most to us is honesty, ethics, and transparency.
We welcome submissions where AI has been used as a supportive tool during the creative process, provided the work itself remains the author’s original creative work. We do not accept poems or stories that are fully generated by AI and presented as the writer’s own original, unaided work.
AI can be a helpful creative aid when used responsibly. For example, it may be used to:
- Generate writing prompts
- Overcome writer’s block
- Explore themes, ideas, or creative directions
- Help organise or develop existing ideas
- Support editing and clarity
- Improve accessibility for writers with learning difficulties, neurodivergent writers, writers with dyslexia, mobility impairments, chronic fatigue, or anyone who benefits from additional tools to help organise, edit, or express their thoughts
Using AI in these ways does not diminish a writer’s authenticity. The heart of every piece we publish should still come from the writer’s own imagination, perspective, lived experience, and emotional truth.
If AI played a significant role in shaping your submission beyond basic spelling, grammar, or formatting support, we encourage you to mention this briefly in your cover letter or submission message.
Poem Stellium is committed to building a creative community rooted in honesty, intention, and artistic freedom. Technology will continue to evolve, but our commitment remains the same: celebrating genuine human creativity in all its forms.
